About Me
For the past 23 years, I have worked as a school social worker, serving students and their families with behavioral and mental health needs at the elementary, middle and high school levels. I also have a variety of experience working with young moms, individuals with substance abuse issues, and providing family counseling.
My personality style is welcoming, calm, nonjudgemental but straightforward and funny (maybe mostly to myself!). I believe a positive connection is the foundation to the therapeutic process. Connection facilitates a safe space, builds trust and allows the individual to release troubling thoughts, feelings and trapped emotions in the body. I believe in a mind/body approach to healing. We may practice self regulation strategies that include mindfulness, breathing exercises and other forms of holistic practices to assist in the process of healing.
I have a Bachelors degree in Psychology from Iowa State University and my Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Iowa. I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker issued by the Iowa Department of Public Health.
Outside of work, I am married with 3 kids, twin 7 year olds and a five year old. We enjoy spending time together as a family, watching movies, playing games, time at the lake and traveling. I also enjoy sleep and quiet moments by myself!
Therapy Services
I provide individual therapy with children 5+ and adults experiencing difficulty with managing emotions, behavior, life transitions, professional burnout, chronic stress and a variety of mental health disorders.
I have special interest in providing services to individuals experiencing chronic stress and anxiety, fertility challenges, perinatal and postpartum mood disorders.
I take a mind/body approach to services. I may incorporate mindfulness practices, somatic practices and other holistic approaches.
I provide services in person, Telehealth or a combination of both.
